Books: A Luxury
Uganda is like most sub-Saharan African countries. High quality children’s books are rare and in rural areas, practically non-existent. Primary aged children go to government-run schools where one would expect to find books, but most rural primary schools are crumbling, over crowded, and do not have libraries. Books are a luxury. The story is the same for secondary schools. Those students who have the opportunity to attend secondary school rarely get to hold a book in their hands. Read below to find out how you can put a book in a child's hand.

Rotary Book Drive Update
Great news! The books arrived in Kampala in mid-June, 2010, and are being processed through customs. The members of the Kyotera Rotary Club are ready to coordinate the transport of the books to Makondo and other area schools.
